FAQ
Cool! You have questions. Let me answer as many as I can think of here. If you have more specific ones, ping me and we can thrash them out at once!
Will it take a while?
Oh yes, it most likely will. I try to keep my turn-around time to less than a week, but a piece usually takes research, re-writing and editing. I need you to be clear on what you need, and available for questions. That will help the process along.
When will you start writing?
In an idle world, I’d like to be called in at the same time you call in your designer – right at the beginning. It helps to understand what your offering is all about, what you hope to solve for your customer, and how you will go about doing it.
Why do you need me to stay in touch?
‘Cause I am essentially putting words in your mouth. It’s your message out there, and any misrepresentation hurts your business. You will advise me on your offering as well as style, tone, and voice. Of course, you and I work together on arriving at what would be the best, and this is why a detailed guideline helps.
What about revisions on writing?
Every draft is subject to re-writing – writing is such a fluid craft. I am open to re-working a write-up once. But if you require more, it likely means you didn’t communicate your requirement well enough in the first place. It’ll be charged as a fresh order if more than 200 words need to be changed.
Can't I write it myself?
I am pretty sure you can. It would take up more of your time. You might be unfamiliar with what to say. If you turn your project over to me, you have a professional who does not plagiarize, use the wrong word or skimp on research.
I already have a draft. Can you use that?
Let me tell you right off the bat, any and all notes you’ve made are invaluable. Be sure to send them over when you set me your writing task. Even if I don’t use it all, or in the same form, it can be an excellent place to start.
Will you charge me for edits?
Editing is, in essence, a part of the writing process. A piece of writing can always be revisited if it needs to be repurposed – such as for a short-term promotional campaign flyer. But when I produce new content, I charge you for it. See 4.
Why should I hire you and not get this done on Fiverr or Upwork?
‘Cause I am essentially putting words in your mouth. It’s your message out there, and any misrepresentation hurts your business. You will advise me on your offering as well as style, tone, and voice. Of course, you and I work together on arriving at what would be the best, and this is why a detailed guideline helps.
